RM 1080, a 36-foot multi-purpose sailboat inspired by the Class40s

A two- or single-stem Lombard plan for a versatile program

With a range of 5 cruising yachts from 9 to 14 m, RM Yachts is preparing to launch a new 10.80 m unit. The RM 1080 will be launched in 2024, and, like the rest of the range, has been designed by Marc Lombard's naval architecture studio. The 36-foot, 4-m-wide yacht is built in epoxy plywood with glass reinforcements - the shipyard's trademark - and a glass sandwich deck. It will be available in single-keel or twin-keel versions, with a draft of 2.04 m or 1.72 m respectively.

This new model, inspired by Class40 ocean-racing boats, is presented as versatile. The programs are varied, from summer cruising to longer voyages, while making the RM 1080 a boat capable of being sailed single-handed. The fuel and water tanks offer sufficient autonomy for extended cruising: 80 or 130 L for diesel and 200 or 300 liters for water. A 30 hp Volvo Penta engine will take over when the going gets rough.

Three cockpit versions

The cockpit of this new model is modular in terms of cockpit seating. The latter - two side bench seats - can be adapted for sunbathing. The two steering wheels are located at the stern and feature folding bench seats to free up side access. A wrap-around sprayhood ensures dry sailing.

A bright interior inspired by the RM 1180

The interior is accessed via a three-step descent and - like all RMs - boasts 180° visibility thanks to the front windows. It features the same layout as its big brother, the RM 1180 . There's a chart table, a waxing cupboard, an L-shaped galley on the port side, and a handsome saloon forward with central table and side benches. The forepeak houses a double cabin. A second double cabin is located on the port side, and a service room, accessible from the beautiful washroom, on the starboard side.
