Clothing manufacturer Guy Cotten launches a new sailing jacket. Until now, the range has been limited to one model, the Kara jacket. Available as a jacket, vareuse and matching overalls, this set for the high seas is based on Dremtech + fabric, garments renowned for their strength and resistance to wear and tear. But users have complained about the lack of flexibility, partly due to the quality of the fabric.
A model designed with a new fabric
Based on these observations, the Breton manufacturer launched the RP watch jacket. This model features the same cut as the Kara, but this time assembled with a fabric called Dremlight. This lighter fabric (194 g/m2 vs. 294 g/m2 for Dremtech +) contributes to the feeling of lightness.
Dremlight is a breathable, high-performance, flexible 3-layer fabric. The breathability of the fabric effectively reduces the amount of moisture inside the garment.
A wraparound cut

While the cut of the jacket is identical, with a wrap-around collar lined in fleece and a large neon-yellow hood, the RP jacket offers a simplified design. There are no hand-warmer pockets, only patch cargo pockets on the front. In terms of safety, this jacket features reflective stripes and - a clever little detail - a ring for clipping on a motorboat's circuit breaker.
A set for cruising

This jacket is complemented by dungarees in the same fabric. The straps are elasticated and lined with fabric for greater comfort. Adjustment is by Velcro tabs.
In the Guy Cotten nomenclature, the RP jacket is designed for cruising, while the Kara is intended for blue water sailing. And while the Kara jacket is only available in black, the RP set is only available in red.
