Arriving on the Faroe Islands from the south, the island of Suduroy offers several small ports and anchorages. The fishing port of Vágur, in the southernmost fjord, has a quay accessible to sailing boats, where you can relax after a crossing.

A welcoming little fishing port
Vágur lies at the bottom of the Vágsførdur loch. A long dike on the south coast protects the area. The fishing port is on the north coast. Instead of pontoons and catways, boaters will find solid docks protected by rows of tires. A large wooden plank to hang over the boat's fenders can be very useful to avoid black tire marks.
Boats can be moored on the inside of the quay or, in calm weather, on the outside. An overnight stay costs around a hundred crowns, or between ten and fifteen euros. Included in the price are water, showers, toilets and laundry facilities.

When Vágur is the boat's port of entry to the Faroe Islands, the harbour master sends the relevant authorities a form to fill in with information about the boat and crew.

Access to the city center
Vágur is the island's most densely populated municipality, with around 1,500 inhabitants. The quay is ideally located in the center of the small town. Nearby, the tourist office offers free wifi and a small library. Various shops, a gas station, a playground and souvenir stores are all within easy reach. A swimming pool is located on the south shore.
The loch is framed by mountains. Hiking trails start here, offering exceptional views in fine weather.
