Discovery / White Shark 280cc Evo : a sportfishing adapted to family sailing

The White Shark 280cc Evo, a 28-foot open boat, is one of three new models launched by French Boat Market since the purchase of the White Shark shipyard in 2020. Here's a look at an authentic White Shark, with a few improvements.

A White Shark DNA: a boat to go out in any weather

Flagship of the Evo range, the 280 CC brings some nice evolutions with a new hull and deck mold. The general line, cut to the serp has been softened compared to previous models, with a beveled transom and a deck tonture, which bring nice curves to this hull of 28 feet.

Entirely manufactured in France, the White Shark 280 CC Evo is the symbol of renewal for the famous French shipyard, which wishes to keep its identity while offering evolutions adapted to the market.

This newcomer to the range retains the exceptional marine qualities of the shipyard's models, thanks to a deep V hull, complemented by a very tulip-shaped bow that favors passage through the waves.

Versatile and comfortable layouts

You get on board by the port bathing platform by opening a small Plexiglas door. The aft cockpit is occupied by a beautiful L-shaped bench seat on starboard.

It faces one of the latest innovations at White Shark: the freeboard tilts almost two meters to offer a beautiful terrace on the sea. The shipyard offers a choice of electric or manual opening mechanism.

A removable table is placed in front of the bench to create a nice welcoming area.

The leaning post houses a small kitchenette, equipped with a sink, a stove and an optional fridge that is located on the right, its opening being in the gangway.

The center console houses a large storage area as well as a marine toilet, accessible through a sliding door located on the port side of the console.

The cockpit is based on classic, but ergonomic solutions. Installed on two levels, the readability of the map reader and engine instrumentation is excellent. The throttle is quite high and falls well under the hand.

The driving position, standing or sitting on the folding seat, is comfortable. The pilot and his passenger are well sheltered by the windshield.

The front cockpit can be accessed through the two side decks, which are 75 cm high with the solid stainless steel balcony. The large C-shaped bench seat can be transformed into a huge sunbathing area of 2m by 1.9m.

Performance and pricing

The model we visited was offered with the maximum power, two 250 horsepower Yamaha blocks. With this powerful engine, the White Shark 280 CC can reach a top speed of over 50 knots. A single-engine 300-horsepower model is preferable for family use.

The basic version of the 280 CC Evo is offered at 175,000 euros TTC. In the configuration we visited, it is available at the 2023 price of 199,500 euros TTC.
