Two models of the same size, two different concepts
Presented at Boot Düsseldorf 2023, the Contest 50CS is a 15-meter-long offshore cruising yacht that succeeds the model of the same name. Launched at the same time as the Contest 49CS, they are nevertheless two different concepts, although they offer up to three cabins and two heads.
A protected central cockpit
Like the 49CS, the Contest 50SC is a Judel/Vrolik design. The hull shape has been optimized for upwind and downwind sailing, with a moderate list, while offering a large living space. The beam has been maximized in the aft sections to provide a large owner's cabin. The low roof extends to the back of the central cockpit, well protected. Both helm stations are equipped with large racks with screens and seats with backrests. The maneuvers are directly related to the winches nearby, especially to facilitate the navigation in couple.
Easier maneuvering
As on the 49CS, there is a central pod with a pulley and electric mainsail winch to leave entries on each side in the central cockpit, but above all to avoid the presence of a mainsail track on the rear. A code 0 furling system with bowsprit also facilitates short-handed sailing. The transom has a central platform that reveals a molded staircase for bathing and boarding the tender.
The front of the cockpit, accessed by a step, is equipped with two side benches and a central table. The floor is made of synthetic teak.
A bright and cosy square
The wide and comfortable descent is equipped with a handrail. It leads to a bright and cosy saloon. The large chart table on the starboard side is directly accessible from the companionway. On the bow, there is a U-shaped settee with its table and on the other side a second settee, which, completed with removable poufs, can be used as an extra bed. The kitchen is located on the port side passageway, divided into two areas. On one side, the gimbaled stove, equipment, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and storage space, and on the other, a very large work surface with a double sink.

A large rear owner's cabin
On this model, the rear space is dedicated to the owner. The large cabin has a central bed, accessible from each side, storage space and a small sofa. The headroom is high and the light is provided by the numerous portholes. As an option, it is possible to install a large window on the transom, just above the bed, as on the 55CS. The owners have a direct and private access to the bathroom with separate shower.

A front area dedicated to guests
Unlike the 49CS, the front is dedicated to guests. The VIP cabin with a double bed and storage space is located at the front. Once again, the light is important thanks to the windows. A second bathroom is located on the port side, with a separate shower. As an option, it is possible to install a third cabin on starboard, with two bunk beds. This is the configuration in which the 50CS was exhibited in Düsseldorf. This cabin can also be replaced by an office or a workshop.
The finishes are meticulous, as evidenced by the ribbed wood used for the partitions or fargues.

An alternative electric propulsion
This model is the first sailboat from the shipyard to offer an electric propulsion option with a Torqeedo motor and BMW batteries. Photovoltaic panels can also be installed in addition, increasing the energy autonomy during long cruises.
