FC3 56', an all-carbon fast cruiser for wealthy owners in a hurry

The naval architecture firm Finot-Conq is developing a range of small-production monohull sailboats called FC3. FC for Finot-Conq, FC for Fast Cruiser and FC for Full Carbon. Hence the power 3 at the end of the name. The latest FC3 56' fits perfectly into this base line.

A full-carbon monocoque

After a long period of fine-tuning, the FC3 56' is now delighting its owner. This sort of - very - big Pogo was imagined by the Finot-Conq architectural firm and, in particular, its in-house architect Pierre Forgia. After the FC3 53, the 56, with its 17.10 m hull, is an evolution. It features a more modern hull, with large volumes at the bow and a tonnage reminiscent of IMOCA boats. Built entirely in carbon, the FC3 56 is designed for fast cruising. From keel to mast, everything is in carbon. The keel can be lifted to limit the draft, but offers a high righting moment with its lead bulb fixed to the end of the carbon sail.

Careful design

In terms of layout, the boat's design, both inside and out, has been meticulously crafted to offer comfort and performance. It has 3 cabins, with an owner's suite in the forward cabin. The saloon is slightly elevated, giving a good view of the outside, while the galley is long on the starboard side.

Top-of-the-range construction and pricing

Built in the German shipyard Knierim, the FC3 now sails in the Mediterranean. Expect to pay between 3 and 3.5 million euros to own such a machine. But beware, you'll have the impression of piloting a Lamborghini from the sea...
