Roommates in the city and on board

Enola, Elia and Carla, students in engineering school in Grenoble, have long wanted to leave for a long trip by sailboat around the Atlantic. Wanting to give a meaning to this year of travel, the three friends have set up the Trimousse project, whose objective is to push the doors of the schools of the visited countries:
" Our goal is to intervene in schools and to open the dialogue on the environment, to give the young generations the necessary tools so that they can decide their future. In partnership with the Wing Oceans association, we will also collect precious data for the study of plastic pollution and its impact on marine fauna. "

Trimousse and its crew left mid-October 2022 from their home port of Roquebrune Cap Martin, to reach the Balearic Islands, Gibraltar, the Canaries, the Caribbean Arc, before returning to France in July 2023.
A proven travel companion

For this great navigation, the trio chose a Genesi 43, built by the Italian shipyard Comar. This racing-cruising yacht, of which about thirty were built, has excellent offshore sailing characteristics. It has already proven itself with its previous owners, the association Reseacle which conducted a study of plastic pollution in the North Atlantic.

On this reliable sailboat, the crew carried out a complete overhaul of all the equipment. They have changed the autopilot, carried out a major overhaul of the engine and performed various other tasks. As for the rest, Genesi is ready to set sail again for the Caribbean.
A 100% female crew

Disregarding the many sexist remarks they have had to face, this crew of future female engineers will be keen to challenge the many preconceived ideas. Criticisms on this crew of young women are regular and those who give lessons do not hesitate to give their opinion.

But the support from other boaters and industry professionals was overwhelming and overshadowed the bad encounters.
An ecological theme
Preparing the boat was not the only activity before leaving. They had already spoken to nearly 300 schoolchildren about their project beforehand.
The young women insist in conclusion: "In addition to the ecological theme that is the leitmotif of our project, we also want to spread a message of feminism and open-mindedness, showing that three young women can carry out a project like this."
