After winning an 11m catamaran in a virtual game, he made it his tool of choice

Do you remember Alex, that young man from Marseille who won a catamaran worth 300,000? He finally got his (very big) prize back and has just brought it back to his hometown, Marseilles. He will now be able to use it to fulfil his dream: chartering on the Mediterranean coast..

He wins an Excess 11 in a random draw

In 2019, at the Cannes Boat Show, Alex, a 30-year-old from Marseille, won a prize draw, the first lot being an Excess 11 catamaran 300,000 worth.

This catamaran had been brought into play by the Excess shipyard, which wanted to set up a marketing operation designed to highlight its new boat.

A delivery in Les Sables d'Olonne

After a slight delay, Alex's boat was delivered to him at the preparation base for the Excess catamarans in Les Sables d'Olonne. Just a stone's throw from the Vendée Globe pontoon, Alex was able to take possession of his boat, the number 3 in the series.

Considered a client in his own right, Alex was treated to the ribbon-cutting ceremony and a sea trial with the yard's technical team. Alex is not a novice in sailing. After 12 years of work in boat preparation, he has a good vision of a job well done. And he finds nothing wrong with the preparation of his boat. After having installed an AIS and a converter himself, he left Les Sables to go to his new home port: Marseille. A small souvenir painting of his victory is offered to him by the shipyard just before his departure.

Alex himself chose to name his catamaran Excess'if.

2,000 miles of convoying by way of christening

Accompanied by his father and a few friends, Alex sets sail for Gibraltar. The crossing of the Bay of Biscay goes smoothly. The boat is simple, well designed and handles well in the ocean swell. The young skipper multiplies short stopovers to make the most of these magical moments aboard his new boat, with family and friends. After five weeks of sailing, Excess'if shows up in front of the old port of Marseille.

A rental activity

As chance would have it, Alex was planning to invest in a catamaran before winning the draw. Excess'if is therefore the ideal tool to make his dream of chartering in the Mediterranean come true. Available for charter on the French Riviera, it has a capacity of 8 berths or 12 people for day trips. Information and availability via excessifcatamaran@gmail.com or 06 51 16 13 17
