USS Constitution, a volume II that reveals the maritime draftsman Franck Bonnet

Volume II of the USS Constitution series is even better than Volume I! This romantic story based on historical facts is both a tale of maritime adventures and a collection of quality drawings.

Franck Bonnet is at the helm of this comic strip: texts and drawings. And with him, there is little or no room for improvisation. The story is based on real facts, the characters speak with nautical terms, the drawings show sailing ships that are sailing with their sails well set. For the sea lovers that we are, this is a real pleasure. The quality of reading is felt and we sail in these pages with happiness, according to the tacks drawn by the American frigate.

les tomes I et II de la BD de Franck bonnet
volumes I and II of the comic book by Franck Bonnet

We are in November 1803 on the USS Constitution, an American frigate that has sailed to the Mediterranean for the war against the Barbary pirates. On board, the young midshipman Pierre-Mary is no longer able to hide his identity. Indeed, this child embarked on a sailing ship of war, surrounded only by men, is in fact a woman. This volume II entitled "There are two kinds of justice at sea, the one of the rank and file and the one of the unranked" will reveal to us how this young woman was forced to take the identity of her half brother.

After a volume 1 which laid the foundations of this story volume II reveals the author's narrative talent. If we had confidence in her ability to convey the atmosphere that reigns on board these warships, we are now reassured about her ability to lead us to the continuation of the romantic adventures of Pierre-Mary.

Now embarked in the wake of Pierre-Mary, we can't wait to meet him again in volume III to discover the continuation of his adventure.
