After the Astus 20.1 model from the beginning of Astusboats, then the Astus 20.2, of which more than 120 units were produced, the Astus 20.5 is the third generation of transportable 20-foot trimarans. This time, with the collaboration of VPLP Design, the Astus 20.5 is a lively, high-performance boat, with reassuring safety and stability. Already produced in more than 45 units, this boat has a dual purpose: ideal for family outings, it is also an excellent racer!
With a single-handed implementation, the nomadic side of the boat is a real asset to take advantage of the multiple bodies of water. With its 6 m length and 500 kg, it is easily towed by a normal vehicle, the masting can be carried out solo with the kit provided for this purpose. The folding and unfolding of the floats on telescopic tubes (a simple and proven system on the 450 boats that sail) can be carried out on land or on the water. It allows a fast implementation (45 minutes with 2 people) in total autonomy.
Its cabin with a saloon corner and a double berth, its lockers and anchor locker open the doors to coastal cruising. Its stability and its large platform with 3.50 m long trampolines make it a 16 m² play area. Its tuliped hull allows comfortable sailing, without sea spray, while providing an extra space for the forward berth.
Safety is also provided by a pivoting daggerboard and rudder that can be manoeuvred from the cockpit: no risk when arriving too quickly on the beach, as the draught increases from 1.25 m to 0.25 m immediately.
2 versions are proposed with possible options: sport or leisure version. On the same platforms by playing with the equipment and sail surfaces, we can have a touring boat or a high-performance boat that will revive the owners' regatta instinct.
With such a boat and the enthusiasm of the owners, for the year 2021, a one-design class is launched with the Astus 20.5, with a regatta circuit for next season. The appointment is given for the Spi Ouest France, followed by the Grand Morbihan Tour and the Owner's Release in July.
