Relive 15 stories of extreme but true sea adventures!

To dream and discover the will of mankind, Nautilus Editions puts the spotlight back on 15 exceptional sailors. This book, which brings together these 15 stories, should find a good place at the foot of the fir tree.

"Beyond the limits" is a compilation of 15 true stories of adventures at sea. Following the authors, Christophe Agnus and Pierre-Yves Lautrou, two nautical journalists, we will relive the adventures of sailors. Here we often talk about shipwrecks, waterways, but also about beautiful exploits, often alone.

The authors bring out from the archives files as old as that of the Robertson family who drifted in 1972 for 38 days in the Pacific, or younger stories such as the capsizing of Isabelle Autisser in 2000 during Around Alone where another competitor Giovanni Soldini came to rescue her. We also come across the exploits of Alessandro di Benedetto who crossed the Atlantic in 2002 on a Hobbie Cat, or that of the Berque twins who took to the sea on a 4.50 m walnut shell without GPS or compass and who also crossed the Atlantic.

Each story is summarized in 20 pages. Accurate, seafaring, faithful, the authors transcribe these adventures with great care and a nice style. For those who follow the history of yachting in recent decades, the surprise will probably not be there, but the story is so well done that we take ourselves to live or relive the adventure with the sailor.

For the most part, these stories have been the subject of a book (often out of print) and it is a pity that this work does not cite its sources. These could make the reader want to go further and find the whole adventure in question.

With a nod to the environment, the young publisher Nautilus, which publishes this book, donates 1% of its sales to the protection of the environment. At Christmas time, not only will you make someone happy, but you will also be contributing to a good cause
