The world of Maxi yachts brings together pure racing yachts of enormous dimensions. Often unique models, which race together thanks to ratings imposed by the race organisers.
Directly inspired by the new AC75 - revolutionary hydrofoil monohulls reserved for the elite of sailors - which will compete in the 2021 America's Cup, the Finnish shipyard Nautor Swan is launching the ClubSwan80, the first of which is currently under construction in Italy.
This 23.99 m long one-design yacht with a draught ranging from 6.30 m to 4.50 m was designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, like the ClubSwan 36 in 2018. The Franco-Argentinean architect is also responsible for the designs of the IMOCA boats Arkéa-Paprec and the latest addition to the Corum l'Epargne fleet.
Designed for both inshore and offshore regattas, this high-performance all-carbon yacht will be equipped with a unique foil whose curved shape allows it to swing from one side to the other, as was already the case on the smallest model in the ClubSwan range, the 36. By offering a OneDesign model that is fast, efficient and fun, the manufacturer wants to offer a courier where only the skills of the owner and his crew will make the difference.
To build this new model, Nautor Swan has joined forces with the Italian shipyard Persico Marine, a specialist in the construction of large racing yachts, such as the VO65. It is also the shipyard that produces the foils arms for the next America's Cup rockets.
Inside, two layouts are proposed: a totally uncluttered version for regatta sailing with a large forward hold and two aft cabins and a cruising version consisting of two beautiful double cabins, a large owner's cabin forward and a central saloon with galley.
This model will complete the ClubSwan range, consisting of the ClubSwan 36, 50 and the Super Maxi Club Swan 125, which will be launched in the spring of 2021. This model will make its debut at the next Maxi Rolex Cup in 2022.
