Mathieu Claveau describes his pleasure of sailing in Class40

As he discovers his class40, Mathieu Claveau recounts the pleasure he has in taking him out to sea. A precise moment that marks the accomplishment of a journey to take part in an ocean race.

I'm Mathieu Claveau and I'm going to tell you about a moment that particularly struck me. It was the preparation for the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2019. It was the beginning when we had our new boat, a Class40. It was the end of the day with the sunset and it was our first 24-hour outing with this new boat, which seemed quite big, quite a big boat

impressive. Everything was new for us who came from the Mini and the Figaro. Before tackling the night, we had ideal conditions under gennaker and with a nice sunset. The wind was blowing at around ten knots. We tell ourselves that we've finally done all the work and we're tackling a new dimension. It's true that this moment will remain marked. It is both contemplative

because the landscape was beautiful, both satisfying to see the project progress and discovering a new medium. At that moment, I said to myself that it's still good to be at sea. It's better at sea than at the factory! Especially as I work alongside and I had very little time to prepare the boat, my co-skipper was the same, and as a result we had around ten days before a return race in the Azores. Then we set off on the Transat Jacques Vabre. So it's true that it was satisfying to be able to bring this project to fruition with so little time to spare

navigation and preparation time. A moment like that really revealed all the work that had been done upstream.
