Yannik Bestaven likes the sensations of speed in IMOCA and shares them with others

In this podcast, Yannick Bestaven tells us about his pleasure to feel his boat at full speed mounted on his foil. A feeling of happiness that reminds him why he sails.

I'm Yannick Bestaven, the skipper of the boat Maitre Coq. An IMOCA hydrofoil boat with which he will be taking part in the 2020 Vendée Globe. I have some very fond memories when I was on my boat, which was well set up in the dusty trade winds. The boat gets up on her foil and starts to pitch up. The speedometer goes crazy. The speeds increase. And then, with the boat well trimmed, I find myself at the back of the boat holding on to the runners and watching what's going on. And to feel that feeling of

glide, power and speed...

I wouldn't change my place in the world for anything... It's such a lonely happiness to be able to drive such a machine. This glide on foil, we're between water and air. You can feel the boat flying, but also gliding over the water at high speed. The sound of the sea leaking under the hull of the boat. It is an extreme sensation, pleasant, of happiness, of gliding, and at the same time of flight.
