He is the last of the latest generation IMOCA boats to hit the water, before the start of the Vendée Globe in November 2020. The timing is now tight for Nicolas Troussel and his boat Corum l'Epargne to line up calmly at the start of the single-handed round the world race.

At the age of 45, Nicolas Troussel will be starting his first Vendée Globe in November. To do so, he has had a latest-generation IMOCA built, which was launched on Tuesday 5th May 2020 in Port La Forêt, Finistère, after more than a year's work at Mer Agitée, the builder and prime contractor.

Like Arkea-Paprec, Sébastien Simon's boat, it was the architect Juan Kouyoumdjian who decided on Corum l'Epargne. Given the rather short deadlines, the team preferred to hire an architect who already had a mould.

Thus, the two IMOCA boats share the same hull and their decks are different. Corum L'Epargne has a very large deck with a raised centre of gravity. Thanks to the larger hull volume, the bulb is lighter, just like the boat.

For the moment, the boat was launched without these foils. These will be installed next week.

From now on, we'll have to wait for the deconfinement and the rules linked to it to know when the sailor will be able to go and train and discover his boat while sailing. With seven weeks behind schedule, it is becoming essential to get back out on the water quickly to prepare for the Vendée Globe.
