Arcona 345, a 10-metre cruiser with Swedish accents

The Swedish manufacturer Arcona Yachts will launch the smallest model in its range, the Arcona 345, in Düsseldorf in January 2020. Intended for double-handed or short-handed sailing, it is also perfectly suited to family cruising.

The Swedish manufacturer Arcona Yachts is riding the wave of success of the Arcona 435, European yacht of the year 2019, to launch the smallest model in its range, the Arcona 345. Designed for cruising with a reduced crew, this 34-foot (10.4 m) sailboat is suitable for regattas as well as family cruising.

Its predecessor, the Arcona 340, launched in 2009, was a real success and was also nominated in the "Performance Yachts" category of the European Yacht of the Year 2010. To design this new yacht, the shipyard has taken over some of the design elements of the 340, including the new features of the 345 and taking inspiration from the design of their largest model, the 465.

The Arcona 345 has a slightly larger sail area than the Arcona 340 to optimise upwind performance. As an option, it is possible to choose two carbon-finish steering wheels. In its standard version, it will be equipped with a tiller.

Forward, the cabin offers plenty of storage space, as well as two wardrobes plus another storage space under the bunk. The saloon is arranged with an L-shaped galley to starboard with a two-burner gas stove, an oven, a sink and a generously sized refrigerator.

The rounded chart table is oriented aft and should provide sufficient space for electronic equipment.

At the bow, the central table with side flaps allows six people to dine comfortably on the U-shaped bench seat on the port side and the right-hand bench seat on the starboard side. The benches can be easily transformed into a sea berth thanks to the anti-roll covers.

The bathroom is spacious with a separate shower, a rare feature in a 34-foot yacht. There is a wash basin, as well as watertight storage and an access door to the technical area located aft on the starboard side.

The aft cabin on the port side offers a large double berth and plenty of storage (shelves plus storage under the bunk). Two portholes allow the space to be ventilated.

For the interior design, owners can choose between two wood finishes: Khaya mahogany or light oak. They can choose the fabrics, the colors of the glazing. Deck portholes provide light and ventilation inside.

The hull and deck use vacuum infusion technology, with a sandwich construction with multi-axial roving reinforcements and vinylester resin. The core material is 20 mm divinycell foam. All the bulkheads are taken up on the deck and hull for added strength. Equipped with a powerful fractional rig, the Arcona 345 sport has a through-mast with a swept mast, with two spreader decks. It can accommodate a spinnaker. For strength and stability, the keel bulb is made of antimony-hardened lead.

The transom is open with an integrated bathing platform. Access to the large aft locker is through two cockpit hatches. Additional storage can be installed at the rear of the cockpit bench. The cockpit table is stored in the starboard locker.

The cockpit floor is made of teak and the deck is made of teak, but it is possible as an option to opt for side decks made of non-slip material.
