After 28 days 23 hours 24 minutes and 46 seconds at sea, Maxi Edmond de Rothschild won the Atlantic Brest on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

Setting out from Brest on 5th November in some tough conditions, Fanck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier - accompanied by the mediaman Yann Riou - returned to the Breton capital this Wednesday 4th December. They won the first edition of Brest Atlantique, a race between the North and South Atlantic, run as a duo and filmed from the inside.

They are thus achieving their first major offshore victory aboard their trimaran, taken in hand earlier this year 2019.

The two skippers quickly took the lead of the race - from the second night at sea - by gybing the first along the Moroccan coast and kept it until their technical stopover on 12th November in Salvador de Bahia. This stopover of 13 hours and 40 minutes had enabled the Gitana Team's shore crew to repair the daggerboard plan, which had been damaged just before Cape Verde.

Setting out again after the rest of the fleet, they were back in the lead two days later, on 14th November at 8pm off Rio, and never let up.

Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier - whose track records are no longer cited - have managed to make the most of the full potential of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, designed specifically for flying offshore. They will have covered 17?000 miles at an average speed of 24.8 knots and covered nearly 741 miles in 24 hours at a speed of 30.9 knots.

"The oceans are getting smaller with this kind of boat, this race was a good test for it, we saw what could break, what was tired and things to improve, it was really an interesting race to prepare for the round the world races", explained Franck Cammas on Tuesday 3rd December.
