Today, the possibility of discharging the battery to more than 80% without loss of efficiency is also highly appreciated by a cruising user. Nor will he be disinterested in saving space compared to a lead acid battery. As for weight, it will also be pleasant to install lightweight batteries that are easier to handle on board.

VDM-Reya relies on an English company Lifos to propose an innovative solution. Indeed this brand offers a small size Lithium battery (68 Ah). On the electronic side this battery integrates a BMS controller, but above all a cut-off relay. This model ensures that the battery is disconnected as soon as it is more than 90% discharged, thus ensuring its own safety. This cut-off relay, which often has to be installed in addition to other lithium batteries, ensures safety over the life of the battery. This manufacturer does not hesitate to guarantee its batteries for 5 years and ensures at least 2750 complete cycles.

In addition, the BMS is capable of withstanding a load current of up to 40 A. With such a charge, the charging time of a completely empty battery is only 1.5 hours!

The icing on the cake, this small battery model is offered at the very competitive price of 750 euros HT (public price). Note that an identical 105 Ah model is coming on the market for the 2020 season.

A carbon reinforcement for AGM batteries

AGM technology is well known. A blotter system absorbs electrolyte to improve efficiency and number of cycles. But for its AGM models, VDM-Reya offers a battery with a liquid phase carbon-reinforced electrolyte: the LCB UEV. The distribution of the electrolyte between the plates is even better and facilitates the circulation of electrons. With the addition of this carbon, sulphation phenomena in the battery are eliminated, especially during periods of non-use.

While a "classic" AGM battery is given for 350 cycles, "carbon-reinforced" AGM batteries can withstand 600 cycles. They are therefore more resistant. This technology also eliminates the memory effect offering the possibility of immediate use immediately after purchase (without having to go through several complete charges and discharges).
