Discovery / Neel 47: the concept of a large cruise trimaran

The Neel 47 is the latest addition to the eponymous project. This fast and comfortable trimaran breaks codes and offers a real alternative to traditional multihulls. We visited this new boat and invite you to discover this really original concept.

Since the launch of the Neel 45, it has only taken Eric Bruneel 10 years to impose his concept of a large cruising trimaran.
Eric Bruneel's idea could be described as a panoramic, loft-style platform on three floats. The result is innovative and convincing, moreover the Neel trimarans have been awarded in many international elections, notably with the Neel 51.

A range of large cruisers

The range quickly expanded and now includes 4 trimarans: the Neel 45 Evolution, the 47, the 51 and 65 Evolution.

With the Neel 47, the specialist and sole builder of cruising trimarans has entrusted Lombard with the design initiated by the late Michel Joubert.
Although the Neel 47 is quite similar in size to the Neel 45, the layouts stand out and are aimed at different owner profiles.

A sailboat for a couple

If the 45 is more like a family, the Neel 47 was designed for a couple sailing 90% of the time as a couple. "We've deliberately optimized the living space so that a couple only uses the main deck as a loft. " details Barbara Bruneel.

To ensure that the layout is consistent with this navigation programme, the architects have given access to the guest cabins exclusively from the outside and no longer from the saloon as is regularly the case.

This is the hallmark of the Neel 47, a sailboat optimized for a couple living on the same level and guests with private space in the floats.

A generous cockpit

On the pontoon, the large Neel 47 (8.30 m) is a real eye-catcher with its spacious cockpit. Despite 2 winches on the sides, the aft area is totally dedicated to the comfort and conviviality of the crew.

Access on board is through one of the wide and secure skirts of the three hulls. However, it makes sense to use the central hull which opens directly into the cockpit.

The cockpit table, located on the port side, is surrounded by a beautifully crafted corner bench seat. On the starboard side, there are two additional bench seats and access steps to the raised steering station.

The helm station

This raised helm station offers excellent visibility. This is where all the navigational manoeuvres take place. Thanks to the wide bench and clearances, there is plenty of room for the helmsman and crew. This is also the way to the roof top sunbathing area.
