It was supposed to happen this weekend on your water bodies (28-29 July 2019)

The strong gale that swept the Breton coasts and it should continue until Tuesday prompted the race organisations to cancel or postpone some stages or starts. Here are the races and regattas that were scheduled to take place on your bodies of water this weekend.

French Match-Racing Internationals - Manu Minard Trophy

The French Match Racing Open was held from July 25 to 28 on J80 days. The 12 competing teams opened the 18th edition of the Match-Racing French Open to offer exceptional duels to the ever-present public on the Pornichet harbour pier. The particularity of this 18th edition, 3 female teams were present, a record, and not the least since they are the 3 best teams in the world, led by the French world number 1, Pauline Courtois.

A true legend. Called at the last minute on the 2019 French Match-Racing Open, Pierre-Antoine Morvan (SR Vannes) won at Pornichet for the 4th time on the biggest Match-Racing event in France and became at the same time French Elite Match-Racing Open 2019 Champion.

The Morbihanese had put sailing aside in recent years and has no real intention of making a comeback on the circuit, but for him Match-Racing is a little bit like cycling, you can't forget it.

Simon Bertheau (APCC Nantes) learned a little bit about it by losing 3-0 in the Final after having beaten title holder Maxime Mesnil (YC Cherbourg) in the semi-final. The latter still took 3rd place in the final standings of an edition where the show will have been on the agenda from start to finish at bout?!

European Championship B14

This Sunday, July 28, 2019 was the last day dedicated to the European B14 Championship at the Yacht Club de Carnac. The conditions will have been fine throughout the week. The British Nick Craig and Lewis Tobytastic won the European B14 Championship title with a 2 point lead over the Australians Craig Garmston and Louis Chapman.

Tourduf

From July 28 to August 3, the Tour du Finistère à la Voile 2019 will be organised, between Roscoff in the north and Concarneau in the south. This national event is open to boats from 7 to 16 metres in length that will cover the 150 miles separating Morlaix Bay from Concarneau harbour.

Due to the strong gale announced for Tuesday July 30, the race management has decided to modify the course of this 34th edition. The first stage of this 29 July in the Bay of Morlaix remains unchanged. The fleet will remain at the pontoon and will only set sail again on Wednesday morning for a Roscoff-Saint-Pabu leg.

The CeltiKup

The Celtikup is a 450-mile double-handed race starting from Lorient, with stops in Douarnenez, Falmouth in Cornwall (Great Britain) and a direct return to Lorient. The start was given on Saturday 27 July for a first coastal route to Douarnenez with an arrival scheduled for Sunday 28 July.

Due to the bad weather conditions announced in the evening and a strong swell forecast around Falmouth, Yann Allain, race director, decided at the 6:00 am briefing on Monday to cancel the Douarnenez-Falmouth round. The boats will stay 48 hours at the port of Treboul...

The departure from Douarnenez will be given this Wednesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. for a 140-mile coastal course departing in the south of Belle Île and a scheduled return on Thursday, August 1 at around 3 p.m.

Douarnenez - Gijon

The departure from Douarnenez - Gijon will be given on August 4, 2019. If the boats were to reach Finistère by Tuesday 30 July at the latest, the strong gale that swept Brittany this weekend prompted the race management to postpone until Wednesday evening and the safety briefing is postponed to Thursday 1 August at 17:00.
