A unique stopover in Hoëdic
On its way to Saint-Nazaire, where the Hermione arrived on Thursday 23 May 2019, the frigate made a rather unusual stopover. Ahead of schedule, she anchored near Hoëdic's wild and preserved little girl. The crew even landed on the beach with the boats on board and in period costumes.
Guest of honour of Débord de Loire
After a few hours spent on the island of Brittany, the frigate set sail again to reach the port of Saint-Nazaire and take part in the 2nd edition of Débord de Loire, a nautical event, at the crossroads of nautical and artistic activities.
The public had come in large numbers to welcome the Hermione on the quay of commerce, at the foot of the former submarine bases. For the occasion, the crew sang, applauded by the audience
2nd edition of Débord de Loire
This 2nd edition of Débord de Loire will be held from 23 to 26 May with the ambition of making the public dance on the Loire. For four days, visitors will be able to attend numerous musical performances, exhibitions and conferences. But above all, they will be able to attend a nautical parade as the event aims to highlight the maritime dynamism of the estuary.
The Hermione, replica of the frigate of the Marquis de La Fayette and the Belem will be the guests of honour of this gathering and surrounded by a great diversity of boats: work boats, heritage boats, classic sailing boats, innovative and sports boats... A large nautical parade, the highlight of the show will take place on Saturday 25 May.
Star of the show
The three-mast will be moored in Saint-Nazaire until Saturday and will be open for visits by ticket holders. It will also be highlighted on Friday evening as part of a major festive evening that will see Giant Dolls, aquatic bands and other big bands animate the docks and the pool.
The next day, the frigate will sail at 12:30 pm and will take part in the parade on the Loire River to Nantes where it is expected at 9:30 pm. She will remain there until May 28.
