Web series / How to prepare for the hurricane season?

Hugo explains in video how he prepared his Sea Foam to leave it in Martinique during the hurricane season. After spotting the place, he will anchor it firmly before disarming it completely. A long work, but one that avoids strange surprises on the way back.

Hugo who sails on his Sea Foam in the West Indies is preparing to leave his boat all summer long. However, in the tropics, summer is also the season for storms and cyclones. It is then better to preserve your boat by seriously mooring in a protected area.

On the islands, these anchorages are called "cyclone holes". These are anchorages protected by mangroves that do not let the sea in when the wind blows. Once you have chosen the location, you must protect your boat by mooring it properly.

All solutions are good for the mooring to resist strong winds. Of course we lower the sails, but Hugo also decided to dismantle his boom and all his dies. The less important the dunnage, the better.

And finally Hugo unloads all his stuff, especially everything that could take moisture. In cyclone period the humidity rate is very high and it is necessary to protect your equipment, especially electronics. Not to mention the risk of theft that could also happen.

Once his boat is well prepared, Hugo can take the road to Europe, which he joins for the summer season to work as a skipper on charter yachts in the Mediterranean.
