Jean-Luc Van den Heede will soon reach the latitude of A Coruña. After 204 days at sea, he is now showing up at the entrance to the Bay of Biscay. More than 400 miles behind, his pursuer, Mark Slats, no longer threatens him.

The Rustler 36 Matmut is more than 400 miles from the finish. Given the fairly powerful weather conditions, but fortunately downwind, Jean-Luc Van den Heede is starting to anticipate his arrival on Monday 28 January 2019.

There is still to be crossed this Bay of Biscay, which is never comfortable, because it has an unpleasant sea. Especially since the weather forecast announces a strong gale on Sunday with more than 40 knots of wind on the files!

Let's hope the damaged mast of the navigator will hold up. But there is no doubt that he will not hesitate to slow down to let the strongest gust of wind pass through before crossing the line and being able to return to Les Sables-d'Olonne. The distance with his pursuer (about 2 days apart) allowing him to see it coming without having to take risks.
