The SNSM (Société de Sauvetage et de Sécurité en Mer) ensures our safety. We would like to thank them warmly for this. But before they take care of us, it's normal that they take control of their own! For this purpose, all SNSM crew members are equipped with a life jacket.
Crewsaver selected
For the 2019 season, SNSM has just chosen a new service provider to manufacture a model that perfectly meets their expectations. From among 3 selected manufacturers, Crewsaver was finally selected to equip the rescuers.
Less disruption to movement
The characteristics of a SNSM vest are a little special, much more drastic than those for pleasure. The vests previously worn by the SNSM did not please the crews, who found them too cumbersome and too disruptive to movement. It is on this point that the organization has particularly worked by looking for a more ergonomic lifejacket.
An adaptation of the Ergofit range
Based on the principle of their Ergofit vests, which are worn very high and make the neck clear by carrying the weight on the shoulders (like a backpack), Crewsaver already had a model in its catalogue that partly met the demand. All that remained was to make it compatible with SOLAS standards (double striker, double bladder, lifting handles, strap harness attachment point, ventilated hood...).
Work facilitated by Navicom
The development work took 2.5 years. It was made possible thanks to Navicom, the new distributor for France, which has invested heavily in this subject by acting as a bridge between the English manufacturer and the SNSM on site.
Ready to be operational
Today, 2000 vests will gradually be deployed in the 175 SNSM stations in mainland France and overseas in order to be operational at all bases as quickly as possible.
