Econab, to stop polluting by filling up the tank

Who has never left unsightly haloes in the harbour water when refuelling? Fuel discharges that exit through the tank vent. When installing Econab, these discharges are directly discharged into the tank. No more filling problems! Discovery of equipment that we should all adopt on our boats.

Why is it that a technology widely used on our cars is not being implemented on our boats? When you refuel your car, the dispensing gun defuses when the tank is full. And no fuel drops out of the tank. Why is it that when you refuel a boat, fuel comes out of the vent irremediably? And to often end up in the sea, when you don't dirty the whole bridge in the process..

Avoid discharging fuel into the sea

Jean-Luc Dupont noticed this problem while sailing on his boat. He just noted that for reasons of economy, shipyards connect the tank vent to a through-hull channel while the filling pipe is in another location. This assembly works very well when the engine is running - the vent gives air to the tank to allow it to empty - but no longer works when it comes to filling the tank. The tank overflows through the vent when you fill it up!

Econab

A simple and proven solution

By creating Econab in 2001, Jean-Luc Dupont simply adapted the car tank technique to install it on our boats. This involves redirecting the vent to the filling pipe. Thus, the degassing that occurs when refuelling returns directly to the tank. No more drops coming out of the tank. And when the filling is finished, the dispensing gun defuses, stopping the filling.

Accessible in refit

Some shipyards such as Catana or Zeppelin have understood the interest of such a system and install it on all their boats from the design stage. But too few projects have integrated this ecological dimension into their specifications. Don't worry, boaters who want to modify their fuel tank filling system can do so very easily. Indeed, the Econab is intended to replace the old nable: no hole to drill, just the vent pipe to redirect to the Econab.

Advice and service

Buying an Econab is easy. The manufacturer (which manufactures all its production in Picardy) sells its products directly. He chose this solution to provide advice and support to users. It is indeed necessary to choose your Econab model according to the diameters of the filling and vent pipes.

For boats whose filling is done on a vertical bulkhead (this is often the case with open hulls or semi-rigid boats where the filling is on the console), the Deltanab model has been specifically developed.

From 250 € to replace your tank nable. If you visit the Nautic de Paris 2018 you can meet Jean-Luc Dupont on the Econab stand in Hall 2.1 stand B41.
