Equipment Weekly / Sail and motor cohabit when it comes to nautical equipment

A dinghy, clean fuel for his engine and an anemometer to take the sea, here is the compilation of equipment that has caught the attention of the editorial team this week

Aspen, clean and stable fuel

Aspen is a stable fuel. It is in fact alkylate gasoline. A very pure fuel obtained from the "waste" of the refineries that produce our traditional fuels. Not only is this fuel better for the environment, but it is also very stable, being able to stay in our tanks for several years without being altered. As a result, this fuel is particularly suitable for our outboard engines, especially for low-consumption dinghies, whose fuel often stagnates. This non-corrosive product is non-carcinogenic and produces little odor.

The Apsen is available in cans of 1, 3, 5 or 25 liters, for the 2-stroke, with a mixture of 2%, as for the 4-stroke gasoline and even with a diesel product. Count about 30euros for 5 liters of fuel.

OpenWind a ready-to-use Bluetooth wind vane

OpenWind is an anemometer wind vane that works with Bluetooth. Powered by its solar panel, it requires no wire. It works with a free application and provides information on wind speed and direction very simply. In addition, it has a built-in wind angle sensor that determines the angle of heel and pitch. Given the low power consumption, the solar panel is more than enough to provide many days of navigation with a LiOn battery of 3.7 V and 1200 mAh. The manufacturer announces 91h of autonomy without the least luminosity.

OpenWind is available from 590 euros. It is sold complete with its stand and its adaptable mounting on a deck or a mast. Options such as the carbon foot or the NMEA 2000 interface are also available.

TenderCat, a catamaran dinghy made of epoxy wood

After having proposed the plans of its catamaran dinghy dominique Montesinos had to respond to requests. He therefore had to evolve his model to decrease in size, in order to be built without having to cut plywood sheets. In addition, the plan was scanned to be cut digitally. Thus the new TenderCat measures 2.50 by 1.25 m and weighs 35 kg in the end. There are 3 versions: the bare wood kit cut digitally, the complete kit with resin and fabrics in addition to wood, and the dinghy ready to sail.

Count on one day to assemble all the parts and a full week of work to finalize the tender. It can be motorized up to 4 horses and carry 4 to 5 people, maximum 320 kg. Ãeuros from 1000 euros for the cut wood and 1500 euros for the complete kit.
