Special Edition / GripElast, an easy and flexible anti-slip paint

There are many ways to create or renovate a bridge's anti-skid properties. One of the simplest and certainly the most flexible is the application of GripElast.

GripElast is a thick anti-slip paint that can be easily applied to all surfaces, smooth or not (even on old "diamond tips"). GripElast can be applied with a plaster roller after the GripElast has been applied. The roughness changes depending on the amount of paint and the pressure exerted on the roller.

Minimum preparation

Degreasing, sanding (grain 60/100 for polyester, 100/120 for aluminium & 80/120 for wood) and dusting are sufficient to prepare most existing substrates. An epoxy primer will be necessary for metal and a one-component primer will be applied for very porous wood. In case of old diamond tips, they will be cleaned with a hard brush before degreasing with acetone. The gelcoat will then become adhesive, ready for painting.

Spatula and plastering roller

GripElast can be applied with a notched or notched spatula. For a normal structure count between 1.5 and 2 m2/l and for a very strong structure count between 0.7 and 1.5 m2/l. It is this thickness that will make the GripElast more or less flexible under your feet! A honeycomb roller (plaster roller type) is then used to obtain the final appearance. To manage the thickness of the product to be applied as well as the pressure to be exerted on the roller, it is advisable to carry out a test on a test plate.

Spatula and plastering roller

GripElast can be applied with a notched or notched spatula. Count 0.75 l (one pot) per 1 m2. A honeycomb roller (plaster roller type) is then used to achieve the final appearance. Before embarking on the construction of a deck or cockpit, it is advisable to carry out tests on a test plate. This allows you to manage the thickness of the product to be applied as well as the pressure to be exerted on the roller.

Aqueous phase polyurethane paint for more solidity and ecological application

GripElast is a waterborne (i.e. solvent-free and VOC-free) aliphatic polyurethane topcoat that allows for clean application.

It has an excellent resistance to UV rays and water stagnation (fresh or sea water) ensuring a good resistance over time and it is strongly adherent. Its particularity is also, due to its texture and thickness, to offer a comfortable semi-rigid protection in contact for many years.
