The Sea of Clouds, a beautiful design work

Laurent Rosset is an architect and digital art director based in Denmark. Attracted by the clouds during his air travel, he has created a series of images retouched with Photoshop, mixing sky and sea and called "Sea of clouds". Nice! A delicious feeling of bathing in a sea of clouds...

"The Sea of Clouds is what we call a sky, covered with clouds, seen from above... But what if we could really swim in the clouds?" Indeed, who hasn't wondered what it would be like to be able to swim in the clouds? This is the question the Italian designer Laurent Rosset wanted to answer through his series of retouched photos "Sea of Clouds".

It was during his travels, where he would stand next to the portholes and look at the landscapes from the sky, that he felt like taking pictures. Leaning as much as possible against the small glass window, he started collecting pictures. He then reworked his "window seat pictures" series in front of his PC with Photoshop.

"In this new series, the beauty of a natural phenomenon blends with a dream to once again defy reality." explains the designer.

This process consists of elements from different perspectives and mixing them together. "The mix had to be as subtle as it was daring. In this way, the natural beauty behind each image, mixed with the other images, could create complexity in the perspective that makes people dream." says the designer. So, he mixed these images taken from the plane with sea photos and the whole is splendid! As its name suggests, it feels like swimming in a sea of clouds!

The first images were taken from a height shot, the best way to convey the concept, as Laurent Rosset points out. Before testing the technique on a perspective view, which gave an equally powerful rendering.
