One - Brabus - customizes cars and the other - Axopar - produces modern and fast dayboats. Yet these two brands have decided to join forces to create a range of luxury boats and limited edition products. "The CEO of Brabus is the owner of an Axopar. This is how the two CEOs of each brand met. They decided to work together to create a tender for the CEO of Brabus. And this tender became the first model of a range of boats in the making." explains Petter Lingonblad, Business Development Manager at Axopar Group.
A luxury boat
The Shadow 800 was designed as a tender (chaseboat) by its owner (the CEO of Brabus), but it has all the necessary equipment for pleasure boating. It will be built with only 20 units, to support the "exclusive" side of the boat and 4 units would have already been sold on the German boat show. The colours black and red have also been chosen to give the boat a high-end side, but a grey and red package will also be offered.
The equipment is in carbon fibre (package) which accentuates the high-tech side of the boat. For the upholstery, the shipyard has opted for paint (and not gel-coat) while the deck fittings are in titanium.
A modular layout
The boat is based on the Axopar 37 Sun Top, which has a versatile hull and deck plan, but with a lower centre of gravity. This first model has been fitted out according to the owner's wishes, but the deck plan can be adapted. In this first unit, the cockpit is left empty with a galley (two fridges and storage space), but it is possible to add a cabin with sunbathing area. Behind the console is a large table with four sports armchairs. The central console is equipped with an Isotta steering wheel specifically developed for this boat, which allows direct control of the bow thruster, trim or the audio system.
The 3 console seats turn to the back for dinner around the table. The console houses a luxurious cabin with a double berth, toilet, sink and large TV screen. The lights are adjustable by touch and the finishes are Brabus leather and carbon fibre. The cockpit is protected by a lighter roof (with electric bimini) for a sportier look than on the Axopar 37. The foredeck receives a large sun deck.
"The cockpit has been specifically designed by Brabus to give it a sporty, uncluttered look, with large navigation screens, a joystick, autotrim... We find all the Mercury technology on board." details Petter.
Fast and technological
The Brabus Shadow 800 receives 2x400 CH Mercury Verado which gives it the speed of 50 knots. "It's a very fast boat, with a great passage at sea and a great driving feeling. A boat with many technological developments that combines the philosophy of a boat and a car. It has an exclusive Brabus design and the acceleration and good performance of Axopar" adds Petter.
As an option, the daycruiser can be equipped with a Mercury joystick. The cockpit is equipped with a GPS/navigation screen, two standard 12-inch plotter screens, as well as the latest Mercury VesselView 903 multifunction display to control all engine functions, many boat parameters and mobile connectivity. The Brabus "Touch to Can" control panel system is an option that controls the interior ambient and general cabin lighting.
A range in development
This first model will lead to the creation of a complete range of BRABUS custom luxury boats up to 45 feet in the coming years. They will be built in a new ultra-modern production plant specifically developed by the two brands. "The two directors enjoyed working together and decided to extend their collaboration. This first collaboration has resulted in a fun boat to drive, with superb acceleration, but also great living spaces. An ideal boat to drive, party or tender." concludes Petter.
The basic price is 399,721 euros and includes many standard equipment.
