Sailsense, the connected boat, here we are!

A Hub box and Sailsense Pod boxes

With a few sensors installed in the boat, Sailsense is able to monitor it and perform preventive maintenance. A windfall for the rental boat manager. A real indicator of confidence in the tenant.

The installation of Sailsense on a boat is very simple: a central box to which are connected peripheral boxes that collect information. All the intelligence of the system lies in the ability to centralize the information of the various components of the boat (electrical circuit, navigation electronics, engine, generator...).

All this information is analyzed and processed on site by the central box which, according to internal algorithms, will be able to trigger alarms. On board, the skipper can connect via Wifi with his tablet on the box and display the status of his boat.

A maintenance prediction program

Once close to a network, the central unit is also able to transfer this data to a cloud on a secure Sailsense server. This server will then analyze the information more precisely to be able to do predictive maintenance.

For example, if an engine temperature curve increases slowly over several weeks without the weather being involved, it is likely that the cooling system will start to clog or the water pump will have some weaknesses. Maintenance is therefore scheduled in the near future. Similarly, depending on the charging and discharging time, the battery temperature or the number of cycles, it is possible to judge the condition of the battery park and announce a future replacement.

Ideal for managing a rental fleet

When you rent a boat, whether you are a professional or a private individual, you would like to be a little mouse on board to see how the boat is treated. The Sailsense system does this. The boxes are equipped with shock sensors. A tracking is automatically detected. But the GPS also indicates the position of the boat where you can see if it has sailed in unhealthy waters. The same goes for a high engine speed that would have been maintained for too long. Too violent a gybe can also be detected...

All this information is available to the owner on a dashboard. He can interrogate it remotely during the rental and facilitate the return of the boat with this confidence indicator on the use of the boat. With Sailsense, one could even imagine automating the return process.
