How to follow the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre 2019?

The Paul Vatime basin in Le Havre before the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre

On Sunday 27 October 2019, the 59 boats (27 Class40, 3 Multi50, 29 Imoca) of the Transat Jacques Vabre will set off for 4,350 miles across the Atlantic towards Salvador de Bahia. Here's how to follow the departure, live from the port of Le Havre or in the media if you don't have the chance to be there.

On Sunday 27 October 2019, at 1.15 p.m., the Transat Jacques Vabre will start. This race that starts from Le Havre in front of Cap de la Hève will see 59 boats set off for a transatlantic race to Brazil. But before setting off in the Channel, the fleet will have to pass the Normandy Region buoy in front of Etretat. A coastal course that will make it easier for fans to follow the start of the race.

How to follow the start of the race from terre??

AT THE HAVE

On Sunday morning, the boats will leave Paul Vatime Basin at 8:15 a.m. Charal, will open the ball, followed by the IMOCA fleet, then it will be the Multi50s' turn. The Class40s will close the gap. The last to sail will be Team Sailing Parkinson at 10:00 a. m.

All boats will be visible during their journey in the port towards the exit. The dikes will be a good point of view as the boats will have to pass between the Southampton wharf and a black buoy so that the public can enjoy this parade (especially at the foot of the semaphore). The fleet can also be admired from the Augustin Normand dam.

The race will be visible from the beaches of Le Havre and Saint Adresse. The Bout du Monde car park will offer a magnificent view of the fleet, which will then head towards Etretat 16 miles from the start line. The fleet will then head towards the buoy to be turned in front of Etretat 16 miles from the start line.

TO ETRETAT

In Etretat, two marks to be bypassed will be anchored 500 m from the cliffs, enough to observe the passage of boats from the cliffs or pebble beaches.
