The Sportel Awards are held each year in November to reward the best video sequences and the best books devoted to the sport. In 2017, it took place on 24 October at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco with a jury of leading sports and media personalities.
In the Golden Podium Competition category, which rewards the most beautiful sports videos of the year, a well-known video from the sailing world was awarded. In December 2016, the he two leaders of the Vendée Globe fleet - Armel le Cléac'h and Alex Thomson - were flown over by a helicopter from the Frégate Nivôse, off the Kerguelen Islands. A rare video and a first made with the help of several partners: the race directors, the Vendée Globe audiovisual production, the French Navy and TF1.

With this video, called Kerguelen, Hervé Borde - Nefertiti Production wins the 2017 Innovation Prize. To film this splendid sequence of a few minutes, a cameraman and an editor had embarked 40 days on "Le Nivose" Frégate Porte Hélicoptère de la Marine Nationale. They were thus able to produce these exceptional images shot in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
The moment was also appreciated by the two skippers of Banque Populaire and Hugo Boss. They had been able to exchange with the pilot and the captain of the boat. A moment of human sharing since the start of the race on November 6, 2016.
