60 multihulls to discover at the International Multihull Show in La Grande-Motte

La Grande-Motte Multihull Boat Show

The 8th edition of the International Multihull Boat Show of La Grande-Motte will be held from 19th to 23rd April in the port of La Grande-Motte (34). It will be an opportunity to discover nearly 60 sailing and motor multihulls, including some previews.

The International Multihull Boat Show is the first afloat show exclusively reserved for multihulls. This show is positioned as "the" unmissable event for catamarans and trimarans, both sailing and motor. An exhibitor village, adjacent to the basin, welcomes the entire sector and its equipment manufacturers, fittings manufacturers, charterers, sailmakers, transporters, insurance companies and banks, etc.

This year, nearly 60 boats - both sailing and motor - will be on display, including new products and world firsts. The Catana 53, the Foutaine Pajot 47, the trimaran Neel 51 or the Open C Tri 42 will be presented for the first time at a trade fair.

You shouldn't miss the Solarwave either, an original catamaran as it works thanks to its solar panels which cover the whole roof. The MY 44 from Fountaine Pajot will also be on the water for the first time after its world premiere in Düsseldorf. The Open C Tri 42 will be presented as a world premiere and has the advantage of having foldable outer floats - a bit like the Astus Boat - except that it is a 42-foot boat. The Banuls 60 will also be presented as a European premiere and is still to be discovered.

Come and meet the architects

The Architect/Innovation/Design Pole will allow you to meet naval architects, designers or even custom shipyards. They meet there to present, exchange ideas and develop the multihulls of tomorrow.

A growing market

The pleasure multihull market represents more than 1,000 units produced per year in the world: 80% for sailing and 20% for motor yachts. The latter represents 30% of the world turnover, which is around 450 million euros. A cruising multihull costs on average 400,000 to 500,000 euros (200,000 euros for the first prices). It is worth noting the progress of motor catamarans, which are aimed at sailors who are novices or unfamiliar with sailing.

France is the world's leading producer, both in terms of turnover and units produced : Lagoon (Groupe Bénéteau), Fountaine Pajot, Bavaria, Nautitech, Catana, Outremer, Privilège Marine are the main leaders.

South Africa ranks second with the Robertson & Caine shipyard, which builds the Leopard catamarans, a brand of the TUI Marine Group; this country also groups together numerous shipyards such as Tag Yacht, Knysna Yachts, or Royal Cape Catamaran.

These particularly spacious, comfortable, stable and safe boats are well adapted to cruising and therefore to the rental market. This booming market represents 30% to 50% of sales, depending on the builder.
