A book to know how and where to watch whales and dolphins

Observing whales and other cetaceans in France and Europe

Dolphins or whales are often seen as soon as you sail offshore. But how do the reconnaître?? How to differentiate between dolphin breeds? Watching whales and other cetaceans is a book that falls just in time before setting off on a summer cruise.

Whale watching and other cetacean watching in France and Europe. It's all said and done in the title! This book is divided into three parts.

Observer les baleines

The first part describes cetaceans and their observation. This section outlines how to approach animals without frightening them, but especially without disturbing them.

Observer les baleines

The second part is devoted to the recognition of the different mammals we encounter in Europe. Whales, dolphins, porpoises are described with a drawing, a photo taken on the surface of the water and especially different drawing which schematizes the behaviour of the animal when it comes to breathe on the surface. A good approach to discerning species.

Observer les baleines

Finally, the coasts of Europe are reviewed with the different species that can be crossed. This third part is written for"non-mariners", those who do not have the chance to sail. Indeed, the solutions for boarding observation boats are indicated. But the boaters will also find their benefit there since are described the zones in which it is necessary to go to sail to meet these marine animals.

Observer les baleines

For me who has always called"whale" any animal that blows on the surface and dolphin all others, this book is a gold mine to differentiate them. Sure it will join my side this summer and be used to perfect my culture below sea level!
