New apnea record for William Trubridge at 124 m!

New Zealand's William Trubridge set a new freediving record and broke his own record, descending to a depth of 124m.

William Trubridge participated in the Vertical Blue competition in the Bahamas in early May 2016. He was able to set a new diving record and beat his record, set in 2011 at 121 m, twice. In Dean's Hole, he made his first dive to 122 m in 4 min and 24 s on Saturday, April 30, 2016, beating the distance ever achieved in freediving.

While the descent went rather well, he confessed that he had some problems with his ascent "I wasn't concentrating to finish my dive easily and I lost my temper. I actually thought I was going to pass out." explained William.

But on Monday, May 2, he descended to 124 m, freediving for 4 min and 30 s! And this time, the dive went smoothly, and the freediver totally controlled his ascent and resurfaced with less difficulty.

The video of his 2 e diving is in assembly and you can discover the one of his first performance. William says, by the way, " Look at the suspicious kicks that show I'm starting to get anxious on my way to the surface."
