The records of the crossing of the Mediterranean Sea under sail

Among the many sailing records, there is that of crossing the Mediterranean from Marseille to Carthage. Presentation

The most prestigious sailing record in the Mediterranean is the Mediterranean crossing record from Marseille on the French coast to Carthage in Tunisia. A distance of 458 nautical miles.

The departure takes place between the lighthouse of Pomègues du Frioul and that of the Roucas Blanc basin in Marseille while the arrival takes place in front of the lighthouse of Sidi Bou Saïd in Carthage at the western entrance of the bay of Tunis.

This record is one of the official records managed by the WSSRC (World Sailing Speed Record Council) for certain boat categories. But not for sport catamarans for example.
