The Guyader Grand Prix, the multidisciplinary Breton Grand Gathering

Guyader Grand Prix

The Guyader Grand Prix will take place from 29 April to 8 May 2016 in Douarnenez Bay. Organized by the Société des Régates de Douarnenez, it takes place every year. And as every year, the lake will bring together many classes of boats and nautical devices including Imoca, Multi50, Diam24, paddles and canoes!

Every year, for 10 days, the bay of Douarnenez transforms into a large fair where many sailing and water sports competitions are held, where great sailors come to meet the public and where the public can enjoy a festive local organization.

"The Grand Prix is a wonderful idea that corresponds to the spirit of sailing as we sailors conceive and love it. It is a friendly and friendly event during which different cultures mix, at sea and on land, on a perfectly adapted site. It would have been a pity not to encourage such initiatives "quoted Michel Desjoyeaux.

For 10 days, all boats and watercraft (all classes combined) will race together or separately in Douarnenez Bay. Here's the program!

DEFI NAUTIC (30/04 to 01/05)

This course (a choice of ascent or descent) consists of running between the port of Le Rosmeur in Douarnenez and a buoy anchored 3 miles offshore in the bay of Douarnenez. The goal is to achieve the best time, all media included. And you can try your luck as many times as you want.

This race brings together all the categories of the Guyader Grand Prix:

In 2016, the French Speed Crossing Kitesurfing Championship will be held at the same time as the Guyader Grand Prix. Bringing together professionals and amateurs, the riders (max 120) must complete a "W" course as quickly as possible. Here are the authorized supports:

The fishing competition will be organized as part of the GPG on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Open to all types of boats except kayaks and boats under 4.20 m) sailing in the six-mile band, the aim is to catch all kinds of fish (except sea bass) and to promote the "no kill" mode. Each crew will be composed of a maximum of 3 fishermen.

The Race Village will be set up at the port of Tréboul with many activities, stands and shops for young and old.

Who is participating?

The principle of the Guyader Grand Prix is to bring together several competitions of different classes on the same body of water. Thus, there are several categories of practitioners:

What was your background in founding Mer Angels?

All the participants will race in Douarnenez Bay on a common course as during the Nautic Challenge but above all on different courses. For 10 days, the different supports will follow one another to race on the Breton lake.

What is special about it?

The Guyader Grand Prix is an event that brings together several disciplines and therefore many sailors. Thus, during 10 days we will find many boat classes but also Paddle and Kite competitions - with the French Kite Surf Speed Crossing Championship - kayaking and even a sport fishing competition.
