The top 10 superyacht concepts in 2015

In 2015, many superyacht concepts were unveiled. Both to generate industry interest, but also to show what is technically possible today in superyacht design. Here is a selection of the most interesting models of the year.

The Stiletto, a 107m concept from Oceanco Yacht

This 107m long superyacht was unveiled by Oceanco at the Dubai International Boat Show. Her architecture was created in-house, in collaboration with the BMT studio. Ken Freivokh created the interior and exterior design. One of its most remarkable features is its two-story, 6 m high saloon with a mezzanine balcony, offering a spectacular panoramic view.

The Sea Hawk, a 103m concept from Hawk Yachts

Designed by Captain Matthias Bosse, Hawk Yachts is a new company that has introduced an ultimate range of expedition superyachts, with an inaugural 103m project, the Sea Hawk . It has a Class 6 polar classification, an impressive range of 12,000 miles, a storage capacity of more than 3 months, oversized propellers, machinery designed to resist ice and floating debris, and diesel electric propulsion. When traveling at low speeds or in sensitive areas, it can use only its electric propulsion. The Sea Hawk is a superyacht clearly intended to reach the most remote and inaccessible areas and oceans of the planet.

The 50m sloop by Ferrari Franchi Design

The Italian design duo of Marco Ferrari & Alberto Franchi have created a new concept of a 50m high performance sailing yacht. The 50m sloop has a waterline length of 45m thanks to an innovative inverted bow. This allows it to improve its upwind capabilities. The yacht has a modern exterior, with a futuristic aluminum and glass roof, which has large skylights that allow natural light to illuminate the salon.

A 115 m concept from Mulder Design studio

During the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show, German studio Mulder Design unveiled its latest project, a 115m concept. Mulder wanted to create an elegant yacht with a powerful and dynamic profile. Two key elements were identified from the start by the design studio to satisfy demanding owners. The first is a helipad on the foredeck with a hangar in the lower deck and the second is a huge bathing platform located at the back of the ship of 18m x 8m, lit by natural light, diffused from the glass bottom of the pool, located upstairs.

Mako, a 50m concept by ThityC Design

British design studio ThityC Design unveiled its latest project in 2015, a 50-meter superyacht named Mako. The studio teamed up with Baldwin Harris, who created the interior, to design a yacht with a dramatic exterior where large glass surfaces dress up contemporary playful spaces for a relaxed atmosphere.

SeaXplorer, Damen's range of expedition yachts

Developed by the Dutch shipbuilder Damen, SeaXplorer is a complete range of superyacht expeditions from 65 to 100 m built to the polar standard. The exterior lines were designed by Azure Yacht Design and Naval Architecture. While the owner will be free to choose his interior designer. The three models of the range will offer 40 days of autonomous cruising in some of the most remote areas of the world.

Tony Castro's 62m sailing boat concept

Designer Tony Castro has unveiled the details of his latest project, a 62-meter sloop that is both powerful and luxurious. The yacht will offer the largest possible space on board for guests, while remaining under the 500 UMS (gross tonnage) mark. The superyacht will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests in 5 guest cabins and an owner's suite, as well as 10 crew members in a dedicated area.

Symmetry, a 180m concept by Sinot Yacht Design

Dutch design studio Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design recently unveiled its latest creation, the 180 m Symmetry concept . It is a bi-directional superyacht concept, designed from the center outwards, which gives it a balanced and symmetrical appearance. This facilitates maneuvering and safer boarding operations (in tender), thanks to the bathing platform located in the center of the boat. This design offers a unique accommodation capacity: 34 persons in the most stylish and luxurious way.

Sea Falcon, a 60m concept from Mondomarine

As part of their new M series, Mondomarine has unveiled 3D renderings of the M60, a sporty yacht developed with a new high-performance hull, designed to provide a high level of cruising performance with great ocean stability. Designed by Luiz de Basto, the yacht has several exterior decks that form a sloping incline with high freeboards that create a large interior volume. The Sea Falcon will be built with the same process as the rest of the range, using a light alloy for the hull and superstructure.

Atom, a 135m concept from Yachtzoo

Yachtzoo has unveiled its 135m project named Atom, developed in collaboration with The A Group and Fincantieri Yachts. Her four large exterior decks total 2200 m2 and she is capable of reaching a top speed of 18 knots, thanks to her two azipods. Fincantieri and the A Group have spent the last 6 months working on the design and engineering to bring the project to life quickly. Atom has two helipads, a garage that houses two 12m limo tenders and an underwater launch platform.
