A design between tradition and modernity

Cirrus, a 68-foot sailing yacht designed by Stephens Waring Design, embodies the "Spirit of Tradition" concept, combining classic lines with state-of-the-art construction. Delivered in March 2025 for an experienced American owner, this carbon yacht boasts optimized performance while guaranteeing remarkable comfort on the high seas.

Developed from 2017, the project has evolved from an initial concept of a wide, low Mediterranean sailing yacht to a unit with more classic shapes. Inspired by the timeless silhouettes of yachts from the 1950s and 1960s, Cirrus retains a refined aesthetic while incorporating modern technologies.

A classic hull for modern performance

Cirrus' hull is distinguished by its spoon-shaped bow, moderate transom and light sheer. The deck layout features a low roof and a rigid dodger that protects half the cockpit. The central wheel helm, located aft, controls a spade rudder, offering great responsiveness.

Below the waterline, Cirrus features a thin, deep keel bulb, reducing the wetted surface while guaranteeing optimal stability. Its design favors speed in light airs and good handling in heavy seas, making long crossings more comfortable.

Optimized fittings for easy navigation

The yacht's architecture incorporates a carbon fiber mast set on the keel, carbon ECthree shrouds and a modern laminated sail. The split sail plan with push-boom spreaders makes backstays unnecessary. Electric controls facilitate maneuvering, while Cyclops sensors provide precise control of shroud tensions.

An interior designed for comfort

Cirrus is distinguished by its top-of-the-range layout, designed for six guests and two crew members. The central saloon, bathed in light thanks to a row of deck hatches, features a solid teak table for eight guests. A fully equipped galley includes a double-door refrigerator and separate freezer for long crossings.

The forward owner's cabin boasts a large private space with sofa and en-suite shower room. Two modular aft cabins complete the layout, offering flexibility and comfort.

A yacht for blue water cruising

Designed for sailing between the East Coast of the United States and the Caribbean, Cirrus combines performance and autonomy. Its garage under the cockpit accommodates a tender, accessible via a fold-down bathing platform.

Cirrus embodies a modern vision of yachting, where optimized performance does not come at the expense of comfort. With this yacht, Stephens Waring Design has achieved a subtle marriage between classicism and cutting-edge engineering, offering a refined and efficient cruising tool.
