Tips and tricks for dealing with boat fires

To fight fire on your boat, here are a few recommendations and tips...

- A garden sprayer. If it is useful for the outdoor shower, it will also be very effective for cooling a fire. Cheap and rechargeable at will!

- The bucket should be considered a safety accessory. Keep it close at hand.

- A fire extinguisher is good, but you have to know how to use it. Read the instructions to avoid emptying the fire extinguisher gas head upwards when you have to hit it head down... Also know that a fire extinguisher is always more efficient if it is used vertically (not lying down).

- In a kitchen, a fire blanket will be more effective and less destructive than a powder extinguisher.

- Regulations require shipyards to provide access for a fire extinguisher in the engine hold. It avoids opening the hold and supplying oxygen to the fire. It is good except when the nable is placed between the steps of the descent. A carbon dioxide model, installed in a substation and remotely triggered, is much more efficient
