As an ambassador for the ocean, the sailing ship Tara is present in Paris for the COP 21, the United Nations climate conference. Since November 12, and until December 18, the schooner is moored under the Alexandre III Bridge, at the foot of the Grand Palais, for a series of events within the Tara pavilion "Ocean & Climate."

The schooner Tara has been leading scientific and educational expeditions since 2003, from the Arctic to the South Seas. The goal is to study and understand the impact of climate change. But also the ecological crisis on the oceans. These actions are conducted in collaboration with major laboratories and scientific institutions in France and abroad.

After more than 320,000 km around the globe, Tara Expeditions has all the legitimacy to inform the general public and decision-makers about the role of the ocean in the climate, during the COP 21. The schooner will be in Paris to support, above all, the ambition of a binding and universal agreement in the fight against global warming at COP 21.

"While the relationship between ocean and climate systems is fundamental, the decisions that will be adopted at the Paris Climate 2015 Conference will have a major impact on the marine environment and the billions of people who depend on it. An ambitious agreement in Paris is therefore essential to keep the ocean healthy, and now requires real attention and specific actions to enable the ocean to deliver the essential services it provides to our planet's climate system." explains the association.

Numerous conferences on the program of the Tara "Ocean & Climate" Pavilion

The Tara "Ocean & Climate" pavilion has been installed on the quays of the Seine, next to the boat. This 600 m2 space will aim to show the primordial role of the Ocean in the climate and will be a place for scientific meetings, exchanges, discoveries and citizen involvement.

The new Tara exhibition "The Ocean at 21 e century" is also presented. The exhibition invites the public to discover the major role of the ocean in the climate system and life on our planet; understand the evolution of the ocean in the context of climate change. It continues with the discovery of plankton and marine fauna of the Breton coast with two unique aquariums of Océanopolis (Aquarium of Brest) which will remind the beauty and the fragility of this world so essential to preserve.
