Traditional boats gather on the Monaco Classic Week - La Belle Classe

The Monaco Classic Week - La Belle Classe will be held from September 9th to 13th on the Quai Louis II, at the foot of the Monaco Yacht Club. During 5 days, all types of traditional pleasure boats will be gathered on the same water level

A varied fleet of boats of the beautiful pleasure craft

This great world gathering brings together traditional sailing boats, vintage motoryachts and small steamboats - formerly the appendages of large yachts, to the delight of enthusiasts and amateurs. For the occasion, some fifteen Riva yachts will be present to pay tribute to these competitions created as early as 1953. The Monaco Classic Week - La Belle Classe brings together boats with precious woods and elaborate decorations.

The Principality's lake will be home to the Dinghies 12, classic single and double-handed dinghies. Five 12mJI, America's Cup yachts from 1958 to 1987, will join the four 15mJI classics (Hispania, Mariska, Tuiga and The Lady Anne)

Patridge, a 130-year-old gaff cutter is celebrating his birthday. After 17 years of restoration, the year 1998 was the year of her great comeback and since this year, she participates every year in Monaco Classic Week. In total, more than a hundred yachts will be moored in the heart of the Monaco Yacht Show marina.

Competitions on the water..

The regattas will be kicked off on Wednesday 9th by the four 15mJI. Some of the most beautiful boats in the world will be present alongside them, such as the two three-masted boats Creole (1927) and Croce del Sud (1933), the schooner Elena (replica of the 1911 schooner) and Lulworth (1920), the largest gaff cutter still sailing today.

From Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th September, around fifty traditional sailing boats will be racing alongside the thirty or so Dinghies 12. The vintage motoryachts will take part in a regularity competition, while the vintage motorboats, including the Riva, will take part in manoeuvrability tests.

And on earth..

While the regattas will take place on the sea, the village on land will welcome the participants in the evening for big parties. It will also be the occasion to elect the personality of the Sea, who returned to Sir Robin Knox Johnston in 2013.

From September 9th, the technical jury will award the "La Belle Classe Restauration" prize to the boat that is closest to new condition. On September 10th, renowned chefs will take part in an organic gastronomic challenge and will have to prepare meals on board the boats. Finally, an elegance competition will take place on September 12 to elect the best sailing boat according to three criteria: beauty of the lines of the ship, crew dress and respect for naval etiquette.

This year, a rowing regatta will be organised on board classic yawls. A world championship will also be held in 2016.
