The French Surfing Federation has set up a new quality label for tourism that can be awarded to municipalities based on their positioning towards surfing. In the manner of the panels "flowered city" that we find at the entrance of the communes, the panel "City of surfing" determines those which put concrete actions for the practice of this sport, under its various forms, for the local population or tourist. This system of label will work by level, from 1 to 3 stars which will value, more or less the reception and the equipments reserved by the city. For the moment, letters have been sent to all the French coastal cities (metropolis and overseas) and it is the "Label Ville de Surf" commission which will be in charge of the attribution of the label.
The cities that will have access to the precious sesame will be cities where surfing has a privileged place and where the teaching and the services offered are of quality.
Here are the criteria for getting stars:

A special prize, "La Vague d'Or", will be awarded to the municipality with the largest number of members (sports, competitions and educators), as of 1 January 2010 er october of the current year. It is an elected official or a personality present at the French Surfing Championships who will give this award.
