Discover the winners of the SNSM Record

This weekend, the SNSM Record took place, bringing together passionate sailors, amateurs or professionals, for a good cause: to support the volunteer rescuers of the SNSM.

On Sunday, June 21, more than 200 participants took the start of the SNSM Great Record, bringing together yachtsmen and big names in ocean racing. Loïck Peyron, last minute guest, who had pulverized the reference time of the SNSM Record in 2011 with the Maxi Banque Populaire V, will be back. He will be aboard Happy, his "p'tit jaune" (Multi Vintage) replica of Mike Birch's trimaran, the first winner of the Route du Rhum in 1978. "I have participated three times in the SNSM Record, for three victories. Now we're not going to win, but it's going to be a real pleasure," he smiles. The lifeguards at sea are indispensable, but you have to do everything to never see them!"

The first to arrive in Saint-Nazaire is Solidaires en Peloton, skippered by Thibault Vauchel Camus. He won the Class40 category, on the 180 miles course. "It was great. A very well organized race, a great atmosphere from the start and a great show. It was nice to see so many people admiring our beautiful boats. The weather conditions were exceptional: great sunshine, air when it was needed, and even if there was a lack of it at times, it allowed us to open the game. We made a beautiful descent between Groix and Ile d'Yeu. In addition, we had the nose for it! That's where we managed to overtake our most serious competitor, Nicolas Troussel (Bretagne Crédit Mutuel Elite). There was a great fight, upwind, downwind. It was a very interesting race. And it confirms all the good things I thought about my boat. I was also very happy to have experienced people on board, who were able to give me their view on certain things, give me their feelings and detect the points on which we still need to improve. It's all positive."

Loïck Peyron and Happy won the Multi Vintage category, ahead of Charlie Capelle, arriving at 22 h 39 and 27 sec on Monday 22 June, and Patrick Heroux (Destineo voyages-sncf.com) in Osiris 1.

The last boat of the SNSM Record, skippered by Louis Burton, arrived in Saint-Nazaire this Tuesday, June 23 at 2:30 pm and 15 seconds. In the IMOCA category, the queen of the SNSM Record, it is the young Paul Meilhat, accompanied by Michel Desjoyeaux, the godfather of the edition, who won.
