Ulysseas, a cruise ship dedicated to polar and tropical expeditions

STX France has just presented its new concept of a small cruise ship dedicated to expeditions. Sophisticated, ecological and high-end, it offers unique equipment for exploring tourist areas and its living concept is outward-looking.

STX has just unveiled Ulysseas the company will present its new cruise ship concept for both polar and tropical expeditions at the annual Cruise Shipping event, held from March 17 to 19 in Miami. This passenger ship, which focuses on an outward-looking living concept, is 145 meters long and 18 meters wide and has 9 decks. With its 100 cabins, it can accommodate 200 passengers.

This new generation ship " provides access to remote areas of the globe where few ships have access to offer a novel travel experience." It incorporates innovations that open the way to another form of travel and exploration.

"The STX France teams have developed an original and sophisticated vessel, both in terms of the deployment of exploration resources and the comfort of life on board, while guaranteeing a very high level of safety and respect for the environment. After DEFENDSEAS, this concept proves once again the vitality of our innovation capacities through the technological advances proposed on this vessel. Builders must provide solutions or suggest evolutions to their customers, there is no doubt that the technological bricks gathered within Ulysseas will not fail to arouse the interest of the professionals of the cruise market" said Laurent Castaing, CEO of STX France.

An outward-looking living concept

The STX teams have worked hard to define a concept that is as outward-looking as possible in order to privilege the contemplation of the landscapes, day and night. Â" Thus, one finds picture windows everywhere within the ship, as well in the cabins as in the other places of life: restaurants, conference room, spaâeuros¦ An observation lounge in the upper part located at the front of the ship still contributes to the opening on the landscapes. Finally, large exterior decks promote permanent contact with the environment.

Comfortable cabins and relaxation facilities

The comfort of the passenger has been thoroughly studied. Four types of cabins are offered on the boat, but all have a built-in balcony and the bed facing the sea. Some rooms even offer a private spa facing the sea.

The glass roof of the solarium and spa is retractable.

A ship dedicated to exploration

Shipowners are increasingly interested in offering their passengers the opportunity to explore. Thus, STX offers many means on board of Ulysseas to facilitate the tourist activity. An interior boarding area allows passengers to board the 4 RIBs in complete safety after passing through an area reserved for the preparation of equipment, and then to disembark using a ramp at the rear of the ship. There is also a helicopter parked on the helibar, in the upper part of the ship, which further expands the field of exploration. Finally, when anchored in warm water, a marina is deployed for water activities such as swimming, kayaking, jet skiingâeuros¦

Making cruising rhyme with ecology

Ulysseas benefits from all the advances of the ECORIZON R&D program, developed over several years by STX France. This new cruise ship guarantees a minimal environmental impact: no discharge into the sea, maximum energy optimization and reduced emissions below regulatory requirements.
