It was at the foot of the Singaporean skyscrapers that the Omani team took the lead. The one who declared at the opening press conference "we will try to win, that is our goal. In these first eight races (the entire circuit can have up to 250), five teams won. With winds ranging from 2 to 18 knots, and gusts up to 26 knots, it was hard to be stable and consistent. SAP Extreme Sailing Team took two wins and had every chance to be in first place with one race to go, before finishing at the back of the fleet in the last race and ending up in second place ème of the ranking. Red Bull Sailing Team takes 3rd place ème place, a great performance for new helmsman Jason Waterhouse.
The new teams on the circuit, Beko Team Turx and Lino Sonego Team Italia, were able to compete with the more experienced teams at the front of the fleet.
