The modernized and extended MSC Armonia

The MSC Armonia will set sail again this Thursday evening, November 20, for an inaugural cruise from Marseille to the Canary Islands. She is the first of the four MSC Cruises ships to have undergone a jumbo.

On September 10, the MSC Armonia was the first of the four MSC Cruises ships to benefit from the Renaissance program. The goal? To expand and modernize the ship so that it benefits from the latest technologies and can accommodate a greater number of passengers. It is at the Fincantieri shipyards in Palermo, Sicily, that the ship has undergone a "jumbo". This means that the ship was cut in two, widthwise, to add a new central element of 2,200 tons and 24 meters long, which had been built before. It is now 275 meters long (251 before) and can accommodate 2,679 passengers (2,087 before).

A more economical and better laid out liner

The MSC Armonia will be more fuel-efficient thanks to a smoother hull, more energy-efficient with the installation of LEDs in public areas and a system to adapt electricity consumption to navigation. In addition to these technological advances, the ship has undergone numerous refurbishments to provide comfort and entertainment. Starting with the 193 new cabins and new services such as the baby club, built in partnership with Chicco, numerous children's clubs for all ages, an expanded restaurant with extended opening hours, an enriched spa and a new water jet park.

Partnerships with Chicco and Lego

By partnering with Chicco, MSC Croisières wants to improve its cruise offer for the little ones by offering many of the brand's products on board. Parents will be able to enjoy family vacations in the greatest comfort as everything has been thought of to help them: strollers, baby carriers, bottle warmersâeuros¦ " We are very excited about this partnership with Chicco. They are a dynamic company that combines innovation, experience and tradition "said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises.

MSC Cruises has also just signed a new partnership with the Lego Group to create playrooms on the line's ships to entertain children. The MSC Armonia will be the first ship in the fleet to benefit from this new program.

Four liners in the Renaissance program

After the MSC Armonia, three other liners will benefit from the Renaissance program: the MSC Sinfonia, the MSC Opera and the MSC Lirica. This major overhaul, with a total budget of 200 million euros, will considerably modernize the MSC Cruises fleet and adapt it to today's environmental standards.
