Alex Pella, the Spanish skipper used to the French circuits

Alex Pella, who was a boat preparer, became famous on the Mini circuit, taking 3rd place in the 2003 Transat. Since then, he has tried his hand at many different types of boats and formats.

Alex Pella is a Spanish sailor born in 1972. He discovered the world of sailing as a child thanks to his family of professional sailors, on board the family sailboat. His three brothers are also professionals in the world of boating and sailing. When he started to think seriously about racing, he became a boat preparer, especially on Team Adventure during The Race 2000 and started racing late in life.

This Spanish resident, used to French offshore races, started, in 2003, on the Mini circuit and finished 3 ème of the Transat, to the surprise of everyone. Two years later, he did it again and climbed on the 2 ème step of the podium. He then became interested in the Imoca circuit (2009-2010) and set the record between New York and Barcelona. In 2008, he started to sail in the Class40 with Gonzalo Botin and in 2010, he entered the Barcelona World Race and finished in 4th place ème position with Pepe Ribes. In 2013, he climbs on the 2 ème step of the podium in the last Transat Jacques Vabre, alongside Pablo Santurde.

The man who has tried his hand at all types of sailing: IMS, Figaro Bénéteau, ORMA was able to put his knowledge to good use in the film "In Solo christophe Offenstein's " because he was given the "role" of François Cluzet's sailing advisor.

This first participation in the Route du Rhum was more than conclusive as the Spanish skipper managed to take the first place and also the record.

Designed by Marcelino Botin, this Class40 has proven to be particularly formidable in downwind conditions. She is completely optimized on the computer side and her deck plan has been worked on to save weight up top while respecting the measurement constraints.
