Yobalema, the trimaran in the colors of Voiles sans Frontières

Since 2010, the association Voiles Sans Frontières charters the trimaran Yobalema to carry out solidarity missions and help isolated populations, which are visited only by river or sea. It intervenes mainly in Senegal, on the Sine Saloum and Casamance rivers.

The Yobalema is a Challenge 42', a prototype trimaran whose construction was completed in 2010 in the Force 3 shipyards in La Rochelle. This project was born thanks to Doctor Philippe Maysonnave, who brought the main financing but also thanks to the numerous partners and volunteers of the association. Today Yobalema has sailed more than 25 000 miles and many members take part in this beautiful adventure.

It will be on the Grand Pavois with members of the association Voiles Sans Frontières Sud-Ouest to present its actions, its 2015 campaign, its past achievements and its future projects. A big photo contest is also organized for the occasion to elect the 3 best photos.

Gold of Bengal, the boat built in jute fiber by Corentin de Chatelperron

After a first 6-month voyage in 2010 aboard Tara Tari, a small fishing boat made of 40% natural jute fiber composite, sailing to France from Bangladesh to prove the interest of using this material in shipbuilding, Corentin repeated the operation in 2013 with Gold of Bengal. This second boat is entirely made of composite reinforced with jute fiber. It is a world first since it is the first boat entirely made of "agrocomposite". During 6 months it travels the islands of the Bay of Bengal to test the resistance of the prototype and experiment the autonomy at sea.

He will welcome you on the pontoon 6/7 to tell you about his extraordinary adventure!

Gwalaz, the first eco-designed trimaran

Right next to Corentin de Chaterlperron's Gold of Bengal, you will find Gwalaz, a trimaran built on the initiative of Kaïros (created by Roland Jourdain) in collaboration with the Tricat shipyard on the model of the 23.5 and the Brittany region. This unique 7.11-meter prototype is built with bio-sourced materials (flax fiber, cork, balsa, resin containing 30% plant molecules). Launched on May 29, 2013, it has been used by the Brittany-based Lost in the Swell team. It is used as a research tool on biocomposites and allows to evaluate them in real situation and to measure their aging.
