Six destinations on the French coast for boat tourism

In France, too, we enjoy magnificent beaches and at a time when holidays are fast approaching, why not discover the six most beautiful French coasts, ranking established by DGS.

1. La Rochelle

La Rochelle, located in Charente-Maritime is the most populated commune of the department in front of Saintes, Rochefort and Royan. Come to admire its fortified city and its numerous monuments of defense in particular the medieval towers of the Old Port, both classified with the world heritage of UNESCO or its lighthouse of the End of the world, with the point of Minimes. With its rich architecture and history, La Rochelle is full of parks and public gardens, the best known of which are the Charruyer Park and the Franck Delmas Park. Not to mention its beaches since from 1900, La Rochelle becomes a seaside resort in its own right.

2. Honfleur

Honfleur is a small Norman port town well known for its Old Picturesque Basin. With its town enclaved around its port, its typically Norman houses with slate roofs or paved alleys, Honfleur is a small corner of rest and relaxation to enjoy with family or lovers. Many painters represented him as Gustave Courbet or Claude Monet. Finally, this small town is full of churches, all classified as historical monuments like the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce chapel located on the heights of the city.

3. Etretat

The town of Etretat, located in the department of Seine-Maritime, in Haute-Normandie is renowned for its famous cliffs, classified in the programme of Operations of Large Sites (OGS) by the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development. Having become a renowned seaside resort, Etretat is an atypical place. An underground river formed the Arch and Needle 55 meters high. Its beaches surrounded by cliffs are an ideal place to get together with family or to stroll and enjoy the magnificent sea fronts.

4. Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a commune located in the Alpes-Maritimes department on the Mediterranean coast. There are 500 luxurious villas, the most famous of which is the villa Ephrussi-Rothschild which is a museum and botanical park. You can also visit other villas, gardens and parks, the zoo, the lighthouse and the semaphore or the many churches.

5. Marseille

Marseille in the south of France is the oldest city in France. Since antiquity, its port has been an important commercial port. A city with a very eclectic architecture, it has many places of worship such as the Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde basilica. Don't forget to stroll on the Old Port which remains the oldest in Marseille and which is today considered as a marina, symbol of Marseille.

6. Mont-Saint-Michel

In the department of Manche, Mont-Saint-Michel is the most visited French tourist site in Normandy. The commune and the bay are registered with the inheritance since 1979 with the world inheritance of Unesco. About 61 buildings are protected as historic monuments and the abbey, ramparts and some buildings even belong to the state. The Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel is the second most visited monument in France. Come and enjoy the sunset from the top of the ramparts.
